Basaveshwar Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Bagalkot was founded by His Holiness Shri Gurubasava Mahaswamiji of Bilur in the year 1906, with the opening of a Sanskrit Patashala. It provided the impetus that propelled a sleepy little town into an Educational, Commercial and Industrial hub to this backward area of Karnataka state. Today the Sangha has been running 106 educational institutions and imparting quality education from K.G. to P.G. and even research programme in many disciplines. The B.V.V. Sangha’s Higher education spectrum covers fields like Arts, Commerce, Science, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, Dental, Medical etc. The clarity of vision, untiring efforts coupled with commitment to the society at large of Founder and the subsequent leaders of BVV Sangha has gone a long way in shaping the destiny of millions of people of north part of Karnataka over a century.
Shri. Dr. Veeranna Charantimath, a dynamic person with a vision is the Chairman of B.V.V. Sangha. He has given new dimensions to B.V.V. Sangha with a great care for quality of educational institutions. In a span of 25 years he doubled the number of educational institutions. His strong belief is “the spread of education naturally works on social, economic, health front of the people of this area”. Sangha has celebrated its centenary year in 2006.
